Family Coaching

Where in our lives can we experience, learn, and follow a model of how to move forward and flourish as a family?  And where do we get to have a coach come to our home, and SHOW us how to do family?

Most of us gain our knowledge from our own parents and families who are sometimes good models to follow, and at the same time may not always be the best examples of how a healthy, loving family could interact. In cases like the latter, we often start families with the mindset that we’re going to do better than our parents and simply go from there without much more direction apart from what we see in culture and read in a few books.

Making the Opposite Mistakes as our Parents

The truth is that this parenting mindset rarely works. Instead of doing the things that our parents did, we tend to lean too heavily in the opposite direction which has its own slew of problems. Then, before you know it, you find you or your spouse saying things like:

  • My kids don’t listen

  • My husband/wife is irritating

  • My family isn’t communicating

  • My family is exhausting and driving me insane

You see your family structure beginning to fray and tear, but you don’t know how to address the problem because nobody has shown or told you how. Thus, the problem simply continues to perpetuate and grow until you feel you can't take much more.

The good news is that this isn’t how things have to be. I think most of us sense, deep down inside, that family life can be so much better than its struggles and we are absolutely right. Your family life can be exciting, fulfilling, uplifting, motivating, loving and even fun if you have someone who can show you the way.

Modeling New Behavior

My family coaching work redefines what family can be. I do more than simply point out problems or patterns that I notice within your family structure.

I actually show you how to fix them.

I don't just tell you, I actually model out for you, how each person can actually understand themselves first,  have mutual respect and understanding for every member of the family, and move forward together as individuals and as a family with goals, tasks, and dreams.

In essence, I show your family how to be a family.

Sometimes I go about this by placing video cameras around your home in common ares, with your express permission, so that you as a family can hear and see how you all interact as a family. I’ve found that this really speeds up the learning process and allows me to directly, yet ever so gently, get to the bottom of core issues and to immediately show you how to make changes in your family. Of course, if desired, we can get plenty accomplished without cameras as well.

Making the Shift

As with all my work, but especially with family coaching, I put considerable focus into helping each family member understand where they need to make a shift and exactly how to make that shift.

Perhaps the most important focus is on how each family members spirit is trying to grow beyond, come alive, and take charge of that person's life.  I show each family member how to recognize spirit.

I model out how each person can actually understand themselves first, each other next, have mutual respect and understanding for every member of the family, and move forward together as individuals and as a family with goals, tasks, and dreams. This journey will certainly change the way your family operates.
