Parent Coaching

Parenting can be an incredibly rewarding and yet tough endeavor. These days, there is so much pressure on parents to be, "uber" parents. Our friends, family, acquaintances, the latest parenting books and experts, and even culture, often unknowingly, place an unnecessary burden on parents to raise picture-perfect children who are happy, healthy, involved, and successful.

So, in order to try and keep up with the growing expectations, parents are inundated with latest new-fandangled, fancy, sometimes too permissive, or too strict, parenting instructions and advice.

Some of this parenting information is wonderful and spot on and some is conflicting, confusing, vague, inapplicable or downright wrong which makes it next to impossible for parents to figure out how to raise their children.

This is where I come in.

How I Approach Parent Coaching

Parent coaching is one of my favorite and most sought-after services. I help clarify parenting and help you sort through all the strategies you have heard, read about, and tried.

I'm a firm believer that every family is built and functions a little bit differently, and that there isn't a "cookie-cutter" formula to ensure that your children grow up happy, healthy,  and successful.

Rather, I think that parents know their children better than any book, webpage, or even professional which is why I guide you to listen to your gut and give you parenting tools and skills that uniquely fit you and your child.

By spending time with your family on a personal, extended level, I'm able to identify what's driving you and your parenting style as well as exactly what's happening with your young person and the unique way that your child needs to be reached.

For a lot of families, parent coaching starts with realizing how common it is these days to feel like a 'not-so-good parent.'  It is almost as if that belief has become the norm, and so often seeps its way into our parenting strategy.

It's very important to start with the many things that you do as a parent, that are working very well, and then to make other adjustments. It's an approach that requires time, patience and commitment, but I promise you it is incredibly effective.

My process, though different for every family, is built to carefully get right to the heart of what is causing your parenting to struggle and give you loving, caring, and yet firm, direction that takes into account both you and your child's nature. This ensures that both the you, the parent, and your child are being held accountable and responsible in an effective and natural way.

When you do figure out how to connect with your child and actually build a relationship with them, it's like you've discovered an entirely new person and unlocked a new, exciting, and even fun, future for your family.

I didn’t love being a mom and with the shame I felt, I couldn’t tell a soul. Katherine made it safe enough for me to start talking, took me by the hand and walked me through how to enjoy and LOVE being a mom.
