How I Found My Calling as a Life Coach

I grew up in Texas with a very alive, passionate, loving family surrounding me, giving me just the right foundation and lessons to do my life’s work.

Even from a young age I knew that I loved people and their lives, hearing their stories and doing what I could to make an impact in my little world.

Throughout my youth I played classical piano and violin intensely and trained as if I would make a career out of it. Though I didn't pursue music after my freshman year in college or in my adult life, I do believe that my long hours of musical studies helped me develop an exceptional ability to focus for long hours at a time and taught me to listen beneath the surface and find the deeper meaning in things.

Since I knew that I wanted to make an impact on the world and be involved in people's lives, in college I had majored in government  with emphasis in cross-cultural governments, psychology, and environmental policy at Oberlin College.

But as I navigated my way through my college career, I couldn't shake the feeling that it would be difficult to make deep world changes through politics. I wanted to do something more.

After I graduated college, one summer day, I learned a friend was deeply struggling with depression and had locked himself inside of his house and was considering committing suicide. I knew that I had to act.

After knocking on the door and receiving no response, I was dogged, persisted and convinced him to let me in. I then proceeded to spend three straight days with him until I knew that he was ok and it was safe for me to leave. The process was incredibly emotional. I felt alive and on purpose !  I loved being in that call to action.  Right then and there I knew I had found my calling in life.  To this day, I am grateful to him for allowing me to be a part of that deep time in his life, for it gave me the chance to get clear on my calling.

Of course, at that point, though that was a strong calling for me, like many young people, I didn't yet know how to fit my desires and dreams into the feelings I had while helping my friend.

More details about my life:

After I graduated with my bachelor's degree and helped my friend during his time of crisis, I  went to a workshop where two very intuitive life coaches were doing life changing work with-in minutes with participants. I knew I had to move to Northern California to study life-coaching with these two workshop leaders.

Not long after arriving in California,  I also started studying  with Metha Singleton.  Ms. Singleton had been a student of, an assistant to, and colleague of world-renowned author and therapist Leslie Cameron-Bandler. Ms. Cameron-Bandler was a co-developer of Neuro-Linguistic Programming and is famous for and developed, a unique diagnostic and coaching method called the “Imperative Self Analysis.”

Through my work with Metha Singleton, I was trained in the Imperative Self model weekly, often several days a week in office and on retreat, over a period of 4 years. Ms. Singleton passed on decades of experience in mental health, life coaching, and spiritual guidance. Studying with Ms. Singleton was life changing for me.

During all this training I decided to get Master's Certifications in both Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), and Imperative Self Analysis.

My life coaching services took off from there. I started my own coaching practice over 25 years ago in the Bay Area. My niche business includes working with most anyone, anywhere in the world, who wants to live clearly and passionately from who they truly are!  I work with: individuals, couples, children, teens, young adults, families, businesses, corporations, and organizations.

When I'm not working, you can find me hiking, spending time with relatives and family, frequenting Texas, enjoying music, meditating, exercising, and coming up with plans on how to enliven and brighten our nation's schools systems, how to bring alive vibrant nutrient rich foods to everyone in the world, and thinking about how to inspire world leaders to draw on their hearts and souls for guidance, and in general, how to bring the world to more soulful awake living.
